Kirk Hensley

Master Trooper Donald Kirk Hensley has been with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol since November 1994. Trooper Hensley is the primary instructor with the North Carolina Highway Patrol Training Academy for the Basic Law Enforcement Course, specializing in Defensive Tactics, Officer Survival, and Electronic Control Device (Taser).

Trooper Hensley, on his own time, did extensive research for the Surviving the First Three Seconds class.

Trooper Hensley was chosen as the Troop G Trooper of the Year for 2011 and 2007, and was nominated for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper of the Year for 2011. He was also nominated for the Anti-Defamation League SHIELD Award for 2011.

Trooper Hensley is no longer travelling and training.  SAFETAC Director Travis Yates calls Hensley one of the best things that ever happened to SAFETAC and law enforcement.

“Kirk is a unique blend of character, humor and a wealth of knowledge,” Yates said.
